Commanding Royal Engineer's Office, Victoria Hong Kong, 15 Sept 1858,
The Commanding Royal Engineer in China presents his compliments to the respective officers, and begs to lay before them for approval the results of his conference with H. E. Sir George Bonham this date with reference to the arrangement of the limits of the Cantonments of Hong Kong.
The Boundaries as laid down will be best understood by the Plan he has the honor to submit, which, with the subsequent description he trusts will be found sufficient both to secure the rights of the Ordnance Department and the probable requirements of the service.
Commencing at the extreme east of the Cantonment, at a point marked A being the junction of a small stream with the Queen's Road, the stream forms the Eastern limit of the Cantonment to its source;
